To Promote, Develop and Enhance the sport of Reining in Alberta.

Reining Alberta was established in 1993 to serve reiners in Alberta by providing a place for them to showcase their talents, to learn new skills, and TO PROMOTE, DEVELOP, AND ENHANCE THE SPORT OF REINING WITHIN OUR PROVINCE.

OUR CLASSIC SHOWS

After the first year, Reining Alberta began the Spring Classic, a June show that has become one of the largest, highest paying, and most popular reining shows in Western Canada. In 2006, the first Summer Classic, a July show came on board to provide our members with another opportunity to show their horses in a great, supportive atmosphere. The year 2007 brought yet further expansion to the show series with the Fall Classic. Held in the fall, this show has become a venue to showcase three year old futurity horses, and allow members to compete once more in Alberta.

OUR BRANCH CIRCUITS

There is currently one branch within Reining Alberta. Branches were established to help facilitate the administration of our programs on a province wide basis. The area that a branch services is approximate and any member may attend any Reining Alberta function across the province. The current South Branch services the area from Red Deer to the US border. In the past the North Branch serviced the area between Red Deer and Edmonton, and the Peace Country Branch serviced the far North Area of the province and extended into northern BC. All levels of Reiners may compete for Year End High Point Awards at these local Branch Shows. Branch Clinics are also offered at affordable prices.

OUR MEMBERSHIP PROGRAMS

Several other Reining Alberta programs have been developed throughout the years. These programs include the ever-growing Sire Incentive Program, the Youth Development Program, the Verla Dortch Youth Memorial Award, and the Classic Show Series High Point Award. Reining Alberta is proud to distribute a large and informative newsletter, the Rundown throughout the year, keeping the entire membership up to date with all the latest reining news.

OUR OPEN RIDER TRAINING SEMINAR

Reining Alberta annually kicks off the reining year with an Open Rider Training the Trainer Seminar, traditionally held in February. Established as a way to thank the professional trainers who have sponsored and donated within our organization, it also offers an educational opportunity for the entire membership. Open riders participating in the clinics as well as the crowds of nonpro spectators have learned the latest techniques from NRHA reiners such as Craig Schmersal, Shawn Flarida, Francois Gauthier, Andrea Fappani, Duane Latimer, Brent Wright and Jordan Larson.
