March 2018

Reining Alberta North Branch is excited to announce the creation of “Youth Mentorship Seminars – presented by Cheryl Mitchell”

We are grateful with the assistance of Main Branch, to offer an initial two seminars (with potential to offer two more) that will be hosted at Saddle Creek Ranch, to mentor our youth - ages 12 to 18 years of age. This opportunity is open to all youth members of Reining Alberta. A big thank you to Vic Bennett and Janet Hutchison for offering the use of their beautiful facility in a professional setting. The first seminar is Saturday, April 14th at 8:30am-12:30pm.

The objective of the Youth Program is to guide youth riders as they endeavor to achieve high performance with their horses.
Seminars will cover the following:
1) Ethics in sports for the high performance competitor – April 14th
2) The Annual Training cycle for high performance – Equine & Human athlete – May TBA
3) Mental training strategies for high performance – Equine & Human athlete – June Tentative
4) Improving technical skills and developmental timelines – Equine & Human athlete – July Tentative

Please contact our Youth Ambassador, Allison Martin via private message or call 780-243-3881 to register as we have limited space available. The cost of admission is free, and in exchange we encourage the youth to volunteer at the Branch circuit shows and Classic shows.

February 2018

At our most recent meeting we decided to change venues for our May and June shows. This change was brought on by new requirements for horses hauling into the facility. We are doing our best to keep the dates the same, with the same clinicians. If you have already registered for a spot in the clinics your name will still stand as desired. Thank you for your understanding!

January 2018

Our second meeting of the season has wrapped up. All dates, venues and clinicians are confirmed for the year! Please make sure to get your name in as soon as possible to save your spot! We are also very excited to announce that this year we have buckles for each of the year end prizes! There are also two new awards this year, one for horse of the year and one for volunteer of the year! Check out our FB page for pictures of what you are vying for!

December 2017

We had our first meeting and we are off to a great start organizing our upcoming year! 2018 is looking like its going to be a great one with our first clinic and show at Heatherdown Hills Arena in Onoway in April with Cheryl Mitchell. I would also like to extend a huge thank you to our 2017 sponsors, you guys made our year amazing! I'm so happy to say that I have a lot of returning sponsors this year right out of the gate!

Volunteering with the North Branch

Please note that in order to qualify for year end standings you must volunteer with North Branch for at least 3 hours over the show season. We always need people to help with gates, prize handouts, scribing, etc. At least half of these 3 hours must be complete in the first 4 shows. Volunteer hours are required by Reining Alberta. Any volunteerism via Reining Alberta Main Branch will qualify for North Branch vounteer hours.

North Branch can always use more volunteers, so if you have some spare time and are interested in getting involved please contact Brenda Fitzgerald at
